Adventure Tour Express

A man practices the art of adventure when he breaks the chain of routine and renews his life through reading new books, traveling to new places, making new friends, taking up new hobbies and adopting new viewpoints” ~Wilfred Peterson

I'll begin my adventure with one of my favorite destinations. Visiting our nation's capitol is an adventure that really never ends. My love affair began in 1965 when, for a graduation gift from high school, I traveled to The City at Christmas. Oh, my goodness what an adventure. Six years later, as the wife of a newly commissioned Second Lieutenant assigned for temporary duty to Ft. Belvoir, VA we had the opportunity to visit The City on a regular basis. Perhaps that's the reason our oldest child, then a year old, was so interested in art history that she now teaches art in high school for we spent every opportunity in the museums.

The National Portrait Gallery

I marvel  every time we visit this museum at the talent and skill of each an every artist whose art is exhibited here and elsewhere in the city.

This is a city where walking should be a must.  For if you get into the car and drive you miss so many wonderful attractions that may or may not be in your tour book.

Lovely skyline

The White House...and the lights are on!

One of the City's many parks

Walk about if you visit and have a chance.  There is so much more to be taken in by just traveling on foot.  I'll leave you today with a treasure to be found at the Smithsonian's Natural History Museum.

The Hope Diamond

Please join in the adventure today by taking us along on one of your journeys.  I look forward to traveling to many and sundry destinations today!

~~Tea Talk~~

Tea is a cup of life.  ~Author Unknown

I'm having...Original Good Earth Tea, decaffeinated.

My teacup...my bright and cheery mug. No sun today either.  Need a bit of encouragement.

I'm feeling...sure tires.  Stayed up much too late.  Making sure the weather system was through and no more tornado warnings were in effect.  The dog [Duchess] did sleep better last night.

On my mind...cleaning up the debris in the yard after the storm will have to wait until the weekend.  Oh so very minimal compared to the  lives that have been so totally changed by all the floods and tornado that have impacted the lives of so many people.

The sunshine today is in the form of my potted marigolds!

Please join Ruth at Tea Talk today.

Today I also join Meri for Share the Joy Thursday.   For I believe I need to find in my life every day no matter the realities in which we live.  God is Good in so many ways even in times of trial so today this is my joy!

Of all the pictures I have ever taken this one touches my heart with such joy.  It can not be measured.  I will  treasure this picture for the joy it does bring me with Grandpa and Grandson together as one.

Please remember to mark your calendar for this year's Adventure Tour Express.  It begins again next Wednesday!

Mosaic Monday/Macro Monday

I thank you God for this most amazing day,
for the leaping greenly spirits of trees,
and for the blue dream of sky and for everything
which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes.

~~Tea Talk~~

Tea to the English is really a picnic indoors.
Alice Walker

I'm having...Vanilla Carmel tea by Bigelow.

My teacup...my bright and cheery mug. So early I need a bit of color to waken properly.

I'm feeling...a tad tired. Last night seemed a bit short.

On my mind...is the patio area. It's needing some cleaning before we set out the patio furniture. But we're to have more rain starting this afternoon.

The flood waters are finally receding here on the Ohio River,

From Cocoon to Butterfly

Yesterday found Miss Ainsley in her nice warm cocoon!  Secure in her warm blanket she sharing sister's room as she does when Grandpa and Grandma come to visit.  Her day would be one of evolution, excitement and transformation.  It was a terrific ride.  Ainsley made her first Holy Communion yesterday.

It was so much fun watching her get her hair done.  From beginning to end it was a real metamorphosis?  Truly from Cocoon to Butterfly

Butterflies are always beautiful and this one is no different.

Only a glimpse of the moon through the clouds.  Except for 2 or 3 days here and there the last three weeks rain has been our constant companion.  Last year was drought.  This year flooding.  I know know why I am so grumpy, sad, and mournful.  Sunshine lifts the spirits and feeds us.  Yes, my Vitamin D level is diminished.  So everyday I remind myself,  "This is the day the Lord has made...Rejoice and be glad, you silly girl!"  And so today I will try again!

Mosaic Monday/Macro Monday

Easter Eggs, Kitty Cats and Puppy Dogs.

It was a grand weekend before the rains came on Easter Sunday.  In all 18 eggs I only had one crack during boiling.  A miracle!!!  Sam found he was out of the way while napping on the piano.  And just look at Duchess as she stays for her treat!  Yes, indeed, it was a good day!

After the hail and rain...this glorious blossom appeared.

WHEN the sun comes after rain
And the bird is in the blue,
The girls go down the lane
Two by two.

When the sun comes after shadow
And the singing of the showers,
The girls go up the meadow,
Fair as flowers.

When the eve comes dusky red
And the moon succeeds the sun,
The girls go home to bed
One by one.

And when life draws to its even
And the day of man is past,
They shall all go home to heaven,
Home at last.
by Robert Louis Stevenson
