Hoping for Sunshne

It has been gray and gloomy here for so long that any bit of sunshine is cherished. While I sit here the song we sang as kids has come to mind.
"Sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are gray.
You'll never know, dear, how much I love you
'Til you take my sunshine away."

And who can forget John Denver's Sunshine On My Shoulders?

So to all who have the sunshine enjoy and cherish it!  For us who are still waiting for it, find a song to sing that will brighten you day.

Thanks be to God!!

  1. That is a favourite of the little ones in our family too - my mum sang it to me and I sang it to my children. It's such a sweet and cheery little song.

  2. Whatever the weather, Cathy, it looks like you have plenty of sources for sunny smiles, given the people in your pretty collage.

That dive is quite the action shot!

    Have a lovely week.

  3. What a time we are having. Once I am home to California (in May) I will have a very deep understanding of winter woes and blues.

  4. Yes, I sing "you are my sunshine" to my Little Miss. We do it in jazz and blues, then really fast and really slow. Like you, we don't get a lot of sunshine in the winter. Every cloud break is miraculous.

  5. You are my Sunshine was one of my favourites when I was a little girl and now I sing it to my granddaughters - they love it too - it sounds beautiful with their french accents!
Lovely photos of carefree summer days to call on during your frosty winter days Cathy.

  7. We are fortunate in Colorado to have many sunny days, Cathy! It makes a big difference in winter to see blue skies and the sun--I really enjoy living here! I love your bird nest photo--spring will be here before we know it! :)

  9. Oh those robins eggs are beautiful Cathy… it is still cold but I don't mind the snow. We went snowshoeing this weekend up in the mountains and it was gorgeous!

  10. Cathy, good idea on singing for sunshine. Our minds can probably imagine sunshine if we sing for it. Stay warm (it's still freezing here in Virginia).
