~Tea Talk~&~Share the Joy~

Sometimes, during my hours of prayer, I picture myself as a piece of stone before a sculpture who intends to make a statue our of it.  Presenting myself like this before the Lord, I beg him to form form in my soul his perfect image and make me wholly like Christ.  ~Brother Lawrence~

~~Adventure Tour Express~~

A man practices the art of adventure when he breaks the chain of routine and renews his life through reading new books, traveling to new places, making new friends, taking up new hobbies and adopting new viewpoints” ~Wilfred Peterson

City on the Mississippi
Baton Rouge, Louisiana

From this magnificent old live oak tree on the campus of LSU...

to the lawns of the Old Louisiana's State Capitol  the city of Baton Rouge is a lovely place to visit and the people we met are courteous,  friendly and helpful.  The reason we visited Baton Rouge was to attend the wedding of my nephew and this allotted us the opportunity of sightseeing on a limited basis as visiting with family was such a treasured time!

The Shaw Center for the Arts is a wonderful place to visit with a wonderful view of the Mississippi River.

The view from the museum allows a perfect view of the river and it's vistas.  The barges moving up and down the river, the Louisiana Art and Science Museum and the destroyer USS Kidd in the background

But I think best of all was the food!  Yest indeed!  From Chimes Restaurant and Tap Room to Raising Canes Chicken Fingers there is nothing like the "flavor of Baton Rouge" unless it's the "flavor of New Orleans."  But since New Orleans was not on the menu this visit to Louisiana I can only speak to the foods I savored in this fine city.

Chicken and Asparagus at Sarop's Cafe.

Wedding, family, food and new adventures, it doesn't get any better than that!  Wishing all a week of your own grand adventures and  all they have to offer.

~Mosaic/Macro Monday

Bluebonnet Swamp
Baton Rouge, LA

Sir Egret and his companion Master Turtle

I wish I knew what the name of this bush is.  It's beautiful and exotic and the bees seemed to love the blossoms.  For 3 days we were able to find adventure in the South and appreciate all it has to offer.

~~~^j^~~~
Thanks be to God!
Now please visit Mary at The Little Red House and share in the beauty offered there.   Lisa at  Macro Monday  also has much to offer.  The pictures are grand.
Remember the Adventure Tour Express will be running again this Wednesday, 6/29/2011  I will be happy to be the tour guide for all who wish to share their adventures.  The train is running each Wednesday during the summer.  Any and all adventures are welcome, from the weekend jaunt,  a day at the park, to the wonderful vacation adventure!  Please come and join the fun!
~~Baton Rouge~~
So the 12-hour trip to Baton Rough waw uneventful except for the torrential rain.  The rain was so heavy at pointswe couldn't see the car in front of us.  Rain forcasted for the rest of the week so we'll be running between th rain drops.  Makes no difference.  It's a time for family and celebration!
Today is a repeat tour.  I'm on the road to Baton Rouge, LA today to visit family and attend a wedding.  Please enjoy and take us along on your tour by linking below!  Wishing all a Grand Adventure!
Central City, Colorado
Gold found there in May, 1859 caused it to be
called The Richest Square Mile on Earth.
Saint James United Methodist Church
One of the oldest churches in the state.
Central City Opera House
Built in 1879 by Welsh and Cornish Miners.
Carriage House Sign
Store Fronts
A journey to Central City is step back in time.  Though gold mining is no longer the main source of income, it is grand to walk the streets and wonder what thrilling events took place here.  There is a wonderful book written by Caroline Bancroft about the history of Central City called Gulch of Gold.  I highly recommend it.
