For some time I have been noticing the styles of clothing for women and saying to myself, "I had a blouse like that when the kids were little...Should have saved it."
Well, I went shopping by myself and tried on some of the "new" styles and found out two things about myself.
1. If I had saved them they wouldn't have have fit me today.
2. Today, I am too "mature" to wear them. (I'm not "old"!)
So, in spite of the fact that "The Times They Are-a-changin'" just want you all to know "You've Got a Friend!"

Well this had me singing along in the kitchen using a teaspoon as a microphone. Maybe the clothes wouldn't suit us anymore, but if we remember all (or most) of the words, I guess that counts for something!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that platforms are back as is the maxi skirt and peasant blouses...I really should have kept my previous wardrobe of a few moons ago....Well millions of moons ago...well maybe a hundred thousand moons ago. LOL!
ReplyDeletePeace to you Cathy:)
Marie lol xooxoxo
I remember this one..the words the tune and the memories to go with it.thank you!
ReplyDeleteI love this song!! Yes, the clothes of many moons are coming back; unfortunately for me, I did not like them then so I guess I won't need to get a new wardrobe for awhile!!
ReplyDeleteAs well for you, "You've Got a Friend."
God Bless!

That is so true! But it is comforting to know that we all move in a cycle, and should we have missed something, if we're patient enough, we'll have another opportunity to enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteCathy, you left such a beautiful comment on my blog that relaly lifted my spirits. These are very dark days for me and your kindness means so much to me.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
p.s. I kind of missed out on the platfrom era as i was just a kid at the time, but my male cousin used to have a great multicoloured pair that increased his height by about 4 inches!
I had the Carol King album. My own reaction to hearing this again after so many years was to reflect on how like the flowers and the grass of the field we are fading. How quickly the big names fade to be overtaken by others and quickly we all pass from our short stay. Like gabrielle, I couldn't help but sing along - well, hum anyway...my voice is shot.
ReplyDeleteLove it. I got in on the end of platforms and peasant blouses. I actually bought some high heel wedgies and rather like them, but peasant blouses make me look like a balloon waiting to be blown up, I think... Thanks for the tunes and the memories. ==sigh== That this is called an "oldie" makes me feel like and "oldie"...
