My Speaking
~Anonymous~
12th CenturyMy speaking,
may it praise you without blemish
may my heart love you,
King of heaven and earth.
My speaking,
may it praise you without blemish
make it easy, great pure King
for me to serve and adore you.
My speaking,
may it praise you without blemish
O Father of all love,
hear my songs and my words.

Thanks be to God!
Thanks be to God!
The old monastic prayers - especially the Irish ones I've come across are simple yet profound, and there's a directness about them that is very appealing - no ' small talk' no fancy words , just a straight from the heart prayer to God.
