These plump little berries are on a bush that grows like a weed under out bedroom window. Every spring we prune it back and whether drought or torrential rain it continues to blossom and flourish. But you know...I have no idea what this shrub is called. It was here when we arrived and it will no doubt be here when we are gone. Perhaps someone out there can put a name on our dear friend.
Finally, my reason for giving thanks...Answered prayers!!!!

Thanks be to God!

Lovely nature mosaic ...love the alpacas! Your berries look something like pyracantha.
ReplyDeleteOkay, loved the song...your photos are so artful!
ReplyDeleteYour mosaic is very nice! I like it a LOT!
ReplyDeleteHave you dared to try the berries? I don't know what they are either. Nice mosaic and macro. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post. Thankful with you for answered prayer!
ReplyDeleteSuch an inspirational quote ... and your photos go with it perfectly. I just adore the shot of the little duckling teetering on the edge as if it's about to jump ... so cute.
ReplyDeleteSorry I can't help with the ID of your shrub ... it certainly sounds like a survivor. Love the 'Casper the Friendly Ghost' song ... I remember watching the cartoon show when I was a whole lot younger.
So pretty and sweet, a wonderful photograph
ReplyDeleteThey look a great deal like the berry here: http://mermaidsofthelake.typepad.com/mermaids_of_the_lake_blog/2010/10/autumn-oh-how-i-love-you.html
ReplyDeleteDebbie, one of the mermaids, told me that it was a Mountain Ash berry. Very, very pretty!
This is a wonderful animal mosaic Cathy! Are they all from your area?
ReplyDeleteI don't know that berry's name but I bet the birds enjoy eating them!
Super mosaic! Such great shots!
ReplyDeleteNo clue as to the berries! Pretty resilient if they keep coming back!
I don't know what kind of berries those are, but the light in the photo is lovely.
ReplyDeletegorgeous autumn berries!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos! Did you take them Cathy?
ReplyDeleteYes, I'd like to know what this bush is called. I have a couple exactly the same in my garden here in the UK. Full of berries too. They say when these bushes are full of berries it will be a hard winter; and the berries are there because the bush is "threatened" by the winter cold, and also to feed the birds. I hope whoever invented this saying is wrong. We've had a couple of very cold winters lately and even now in early November it's getting quite cold in the evenings.
God bless you and your family Cathy.
Morning, Lovely mosaics and the words go so well. Is the plant a Pyracantha?? http://apps.rhs.org.uk/advicesearch/profile.aspx?pid=431
ReplyDeleteHave a great day, Jackie in Surrey, UK.
Lovely post...and how sweet is that little duckling?!?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful berries. They do resemble pyracantha but the leaves are wrong and there don't seem to be any thorns. Pyracantha is known as Firethorn, too and the older the plant the more fearsome the thorns:-)
ReplyDeleteHi Cathy, thank you for visiting us. Your berries look like the ones on my post. They are called Mountain Ash. It grows as a shrub or even a tree here in Eastern Washington. We had one when I was growing up and the birds would eat them and they had fermented on the tree and the poor little birdies would get drunk from them and fly into my mom's shiny-clean windows!
ReplyDeleteLovely post and I really enjoyed the Casper the Friendly Ghost music!
Mermaid Debbie

ReplyDeleteLove your Mosaic, not sure what type of berries those are, but sure love the shot.

Cathy, beautiful photo of berries! I have a weed (?) that grows through my back yard fence, and it has bright red berries right now. No matter what I do, it keeps coming back...
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing today!
I believe it is Pyracantha if the branches are full of thorns. Used often in the UK as a border plant on the perimeter of gardens to deter intruders. The one at the back of my garden has attacked me and shredded my hands many a time. The more you try to prune it the faster it grows. I would NOT eat the berries!
ReplyDeleteGreat mosaic and macro!
ReplyDeleteLovely post and such a beautiufl mosaic!
