~~Mosaic/Macro Monday~~And Month of Thanksgiving~~

These plump little berries are on a bush that grows like a weed under out bedroom window.   Every spring we prune it back and whether drought or torrential rain it continues to blossom and  flourish.  But you know...I have no idea what this shrub is called.  It was here when we arrived and it will no doubt be here when we are gone.  Perhaps someone out there can put a name on our dear friend.

Branch Of Wisdom

Finally, my reason for giving thanks...Answered prayers!!!!

~~^j^~~
Thanks be to God!

Visit Mary at The Little Red House and share in the beauty offered there.   Lisa at  Macro Monday  also has much to offer.  The pictures are grand.

I would also like to remind you that Wednesday is Adventure Tour Express.  Be thinking about the adventure you would like to share on our journey together!

Tamara at Branch of Wisdom is offering us the opportunity to daily give thanks for the gifts given us by God.  So from today October 24, 2010 to November 24, 2010 we are asked to share in this  journey of Thanksgiving.   Please stop by her blog and read more about the specifics.

  6. Such an inspirational quote ... and your photos go with it perfectly. I just adore the shot of the little duckling teetering on the edge as if it's about to jump ... so cute.

Sorry I can't help with the ID of your shrub ... it certainly sounds like a survivor. Love the 'Casper the Friendly Ghost' song ... I remember watching the cartoon show when I was a whole lot younger.

  8. They look a great deal like the berry here: http://mermaidsofthelake.typepad.com/mermaids_of_the_lake_blog/2010/10/autumn-oh-how-i-love-you.html

Debbie, one of the mermaids, told me that it was a Mountain Ash berry. Very, very pretty!

  12. What beautiful photos! Did you take them Cathy?

Yes, I'd like to know what this bush is called. I have a couple exactly the same in my garden here in the UK. Full of berries too. They say when these bushes are full of berries it will be a hard winter; and the berries are there because the bush is "threatened" by the winter cold, and also to feed the birds. I hope whoever invented this saying is wrong. We've had a couple of very cold winters lately and even now in early November it's getting quite cold in the evenings.

God bless you and your family Cathy.

  13. Morning, Lovely mosaics and the words go so well. Is the plant a Pyracantha?? http://apps.rhs.org.uk/advicesearch/profile.aspx?pid=431

  14. Lovely post...and how sweet is that little duckling?!?

  15. Beautiful berries. They do resemble pyracantha but the leaves are wrong and there don't seem to be any thorns. Pyracantha is known as Firethorn, too and the older the plant the more fearsome the thorns:-)

  16. Hi Cathy, thank you for visiting us. Your berries look like the ones on my post. They are called Mountain Ash. It grows as a shrub or even a tree here in Eastern Washington. We had one when I was growing up and the birds would eat them and they had fermented on the tree and the poor little birdies would get drunk from them and fly into my mom's shiny-clean windows!

Lovely post and I really enjoyed the Casper the Friendly Ghost music!

  22. Cathy, beautiful photo of berries! I have a weed (?) that grows through my back yard fence, and it has bright red berries right now. No matter what I do, it keeps coming back...

    Thanks for sharing today!

  23. I believe it is Pyracantha if the branches are full of thorns. Used often in the UK as a border plant on the perimeter of gardens to deter intruders. The one at the back of my garden has attacked me and shredded my hands many a time. The more you try to prune it the faster it grows. I would NOT eat the berries!
