Saint Patrick's Church, Armagh

Saint Patrick's Cathedral
Armagh, Northern Ireland
Saint Patrick's Cathedral in Armagh was build in various phases between 1840 and 1904 to server as the Roman Catholic Cathedral.  The original Medieval Cathedral of Saint Patrick had been transferred to the Protestan Church of Ireland at the time of the Irish Reformation.  It was built in various stages between 1840 and 1904 to serve as the Catholic Cathedral of theArchdiocese of Armagh.

This was the first stop of a wonderful tour of the Emerald Isle.  For me it was the beginning of a pilgrimage that I had dreamed of ever since I was a child.  The McGlone family would celebrate Saint Patrick's Day and I would hope to celebrate it there one day.  It was such a treasure I would hold in my heart for ever to her my great grandfather tell me stories in his beautiful Irish brogue.

Then John Wayne and Maureen O'Sullvan appeared in "The Quiet Man." I was sure that one day I could go and walk those beautiful fields.  I cannot tell you how grand it was to set foot in that cathedral and know I had finally come to the "promised land."

Happy Saint Paddy's Day

It's most appropriate for Father O'Malley to be invitin' ya into my house as he is always a welcome guest, as are all of you! Please ignore the  mess.  It's a bit untidy here as we've been remodeling the kitchen lo these last two months.  I have good news though as there is now water in the kitchen and the oven is connected.  And I've been able to make my beloved Soda Bread.  So come in now and sit for awhile with a cup of tea and a slice or two the bread.

And before you leave please stop for a minute to pray for myself and yourself and all God's creatures.  It's such a comfort to know that the day is governed by the Almighty.

Thanks Be to God!!!
