Sabers, Rifles and Flags
You are the music while the music lasts.
~T.S. Eliot~ The results of the District Band Competition were not as we had hoped. But that doesn't detract at all from the grace and the music performed. Marching band requires skill in many areas and long hours of practice. It means giving up time in the summer to practice. If you are guard member it means learning the dance and maneuvering the saber, rifle, and flag with grace and this leaves me in awe. I cannot tell you how much I admire these young people, all, who do their best and entertain as well.

Well Done!
Visit Mary at The Little Red House and share in the beauty offered there. Lisa at Macro Monday also has much to offer. The pictures are grand.
I would also like to remind you that Wednesday is Adventure Tour Express. Be thinking about the adventure you would like to share on our journey together!
I bet this was a fun event! Blessings, Cathy!
ReplyDeleteI so agree. Over the years we have had kiddo and grands in these things. I love it and admire them all. Just saw on TV this week the acrobatic associations are trying to get cheer leading etc. into consideration for athletic status, which I agree with. A great mosaic.

ReplyDeleteFun to see the smile on the beautiful young lady's face...she is enjoying the moment no matter the contest.
ReplyDeleteLovely Lovely mosaic.
ReplyDeleteKellie is looking goood doing all her moves, wonderful mosaics and photos.
ReplyDeleteI was in the band back when I was in high school and it is a lot of hard work and dedication, and the things don't always go as you hope they will; the important thing is that they had fun and are proud of themselves - looks to be the case! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats out to your band...I did this in highschool and college and I can still feel the excitement when I see a marching band...you captured the excitement wonderfully!
ReplyDeleteExcellent collage. Congrats to all who were in the competition. MB
ReplyDeleteHi Cathy
ReplyDeleteThis looks great fun! Thanks for posting it. I don't think our young people get enough credit because they do some wonderful things. Unfortunately all we ever read or hear about in the media is the mischief young people get up to. It is certainly time we all started to look at the great things that they do.
I wanted to wish you a very happy Feast of St Francis of Assisi for today, 4th October. He is one of my favourites.
God bless you, Cathy, and all young people too.
It does take a lot of determination to practice so often and hard. Good work and congrats to Kellie!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea fort a mosaic. Congratulations Kellie
ReplyDeleteThanks you for the visit to my blog :)

ReplyDeleteGod bless you and yours.
I am always fascinated when I see these talented young people doing this. I couldn't coordinate myself to march, twirl things around and keep up with everyone else-they are so talented!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Natasha.
Great idea for a fall mosaic!
ReplyDeleteI always thought it would be fun to do the flag. :) She looks like she had fun!
