Single Gerber Daisy


I have waited all summer for this pot full of green foliage to bloom.  And this morning I went outside to work in the garden and found this single Gerber daisy blooming. . .the first day of Autumn.  Ron nursed this plant through the winter knowing it was an annual but hoping that he could keep it alive.  Well, he succeeded.  It just waited to the very end to show her glory.  Don't know if Ron is going to try to nurse it again this winter.  Will wait and see.

Lush and green the Gerber leaves
Waiting for a bloom

Waiting for a bloom
All the summer long I wait
And she blooms today

Proud as she can be
Vivid is the color red
So very pretty

    Our gerber resurrected after a hot summer, and now there are three blooms! Just beautiful, about the color of yours.

    I bought Mrs B a gerber a couple of years ago. It's still alive - just - but hasn't flowered since! yours looks beautiful.

    Awesome haiku honoring this lovely Gerber Daisy. I had one once this same color that my daughter gave me. I cherished it and lovingly cared for it on my porch. One day my macaw shredded it. :(

    Worth the wait! I received a blooming Gerbera as a gift last year, overwintered it in the greenhouse, and it's bloomed several tines this summer.
