The Glory of the Clouds

There is such beauty and power in the glory of the clouds. From loveliness comes such tumult and fury. Oh, the wonder of it all! It cannot be harnessed or changed. And even with all the wonders of science it is still unpredictable! Man is still not in control!

Thanks be to God!

Visit Mary at The Little Red House and share in the beauty offered there.   Lisa at  Macro Monday  also has much to offer.  The pictures are grand.

I would also like to remind you that Wednesday is Adventure Tour Express.  Be thinking about the adventure you would like to share on our journey together!

For Chocolate Lovers

In a summer like this one chocolate becomes a challenge to eat.  And hot chocolate is not an option.

Chocolate my friend
Even melted in my hand
I will still love you

Chocolate my friend
Licking the wrapper I must
Melted there and stuck

Oh the tragedy of melting chocolate even in the air conditioning.  Life is such an ordeal...
Now off with ya to Laura's Catholic Teacher's Musings.  There'll be lots more fun there.  Wishing all a grand weekend!!!

~~Tea Talk~~

We had a kettle; we let it leak:
Our not repairing made it worse.
We haven't had any tea for a week...
The bottom is out of the Universe.
~Rudyard Kipling

I'm having...Iris Breakfast tea.

My teacup is...a cup that wakes me on many mornings and sets me on course for the day.  It reminds me to keep my sense of humor.

I'm feeling...satisfied.  I accomplished a great deal yesterday.  I completed all the things I set out to do.  I can't always begin the day that way.  I made some more Zucchini Relish and two loaves of zucchini bread.  Shredded and froze 4 bags of zucchini.  Finished all the laundry and the was just on time to pick Ron up at the airport.

On my mind...the wonder that is the dawning of a new day.  God is good!  All the time!

Wishing all a wonderful day!

You often don't know when you are traveling and your itinerary is not set just what you'll come across in your adventures.  That's what happened when we stopped at the The Edelweiss Bed and Breakfast and Restaurant.  It is a delightful place in the heart of Missouri's Wine Country.  We had visited Daniel Boone's home and stopped to sample wine at one of the wineries on the way back to St. Louis.  On the way home we found this wonderful restaurant with the best BLT I had had in a long time.  It was delightful way to spend the day with family.

If you look closely you will see the skeletons of very early aircraft.  The restaurant was  full of memorabilia of the early days of flight.  If ever offered the opportunity to do so, give Missouri a try.  There is a lot more to be seen outside St. Louis.

Wishing you all a grand adventure.  Hoping you will share one of yours.

A Lesson in Perseverance

Posted by Picasa

I was amazed at how surefooted this young mountain goat was.  I think that in our lives the times we are most surefooted is when we learn through perseverance.  And as Christians we are call to persevere in this journey of Providence.

Then followed that beautiful season... Summer....
Filled was the air with a dreamy and magical light; and the landscape
Lay as if new created in all the freshness of childhood.
-- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

There is still enough summer to be had by all.  But for the students who return to school tomorrow the season has waned much to fast.   To them I say enjoy renewing friendships in the "Halls of Ivy."

~Bad Haiku Friday~

Today is a little difficult for me because I have not gotten hooked on reality programming.  I tried watching Big Brother and the Bachelor, but to no avail.  I guess you'd say I'm happier not knowing the "real" and choosing to be "unrealistic."  (I'm a fan of NCIS!)

Nonetheless, I 'm going to give it a try.  There was one show I've watch once or twice and found interesting, Undercover Boss.

Undercover Boss
Pretty sneaky how they check
Boss plays peek-a-boo.

Needed a little diversion today and thought it best to try my hand at a jigsaw puzzle.  Ron took this picture of the butterfly at the Daniel Boone home sight near St. Louis this summer.  It is one of my favorite pictures.  Wishing you all a wonderful butterfly day!

~~Adventure Tour Express~~

 ~~~~~~~
Do you remember your very first trip?  My first memory of a trip was to visit my great grandparents in Manzanola, Colorado.  Grandpa and Grandma Elliott lived on a small farm with chickens, cows, and a donkey.  There was no running water.  Water was pumped from outside.  I do remember though that Grandma had a pump by the kitchen sink.
There was no indoor plumbing.  I remember making sure that I had used the outhouse before I went to sleep because it was dark with no lights and I was frightened of critters that roamed the night.
Breakfast at the farm was so good.  Grandma made fresh lard biscuits with bacon and fresh eggs.  The oatmeal was a little stiff though.  The milk was always warm.  I always thought that the ice box must not work until one day when Mom told me that the milk had just come straight from the cow.  I often wondered how they "cleaned" the milk before I drank it.
I will not romanticize life on the farm because as much as I loved to visit, I was glad to go home.  It is hard work living and working on a farm.  I had it made at home.  We had TV, running water, TV, indoor plumbing, TV, and ice cold milk.  And don't forget we had just gotten our TV.  This was in 1953.
To all farmers and their families, I would like to say thank you for all the hard work you do to keep our tables covered with wondrous foods provided by you and our Creator!
