In Praise of God
Love is a mystery that transforms everything it touches into things beautiful and pleasing to God. The love of God makes a soul free. ~Saint Faustina Kowalska
It is important that our Lord be praised in the love offered to us, and so I praise Him.
I praise him in my children and grandchildren, for the gifts and talents he as produced.
I praise God in the love of my husband for the example of generosity and compassion he offers to others.
I praise him in Sundays, those holy days of rest.
I praise him in my friends who support me and care for me

Music Monday-- CANTICLE OF THE SUN
I have joined this today because I wish to share the Glory of God. I found this opportunity at Blessings for the Day. She has chosen a lovely song and thought I would offer one of my favorites, The Canticle of the Sun by Mary Haugen. Have a grand day praising the "glory of our God."
If you wish to join in this Music Monday visit Shawntele's lovely blog Saved By Grace each Monday for a musical and inspiring start to your week. She hosts Music Monday where we are invited to post a song or video. This meme is a fun and easy way to do that. It is a delightful place to visit.

Praise God!
Today I have much to praise the good Lord for. This weekend was again glorious. Please journey to Jennifer's Chocolate Heart and share in the "praise."
1) The weather was grand for the Festival of the Little Hills in St. Charles, MO. (Often referred to by the family as the "Sweating of the Little Hills." It was an absolutely wonderful day to walk the streets of the city and peruse the stalls and eat the wonderful food with John, Rhonda and Ron!
2) Praising God for John and all his work in investigating some of the hotels in St. Louis for the upcoming Stubbs Family Reunion in June, 2010.
3) Praise God for breakfast with Rhonda, John, and Ron on the Blackstock screened in porch. August seldom offers us such a treat. It's always soooo hot there.
4) Praising Him for the opportunity to acquire ingredients needed for the rehearsal dinner in December. UMMMM Key Lime Pie!
5) Praising God for His Mass and Communion today. Left me full of joy and gladness!

Praise God!
After a Stupendous Sunday, it is a wonderful time to take time to offer praise and thanksgiving for all the gifts we are given. Please journey to Jennifer's Chocolate Heart and share in the "praise."
And so I praise God for:
1. Cool breezes, sunshine and flowers.
2. Cleansing rain that has nourished the beautiful flowers.
3. Family outings, shopping with Laura, Kellie and Neil for Mariannes baby shower.
4. The harness for Duchess' seat in the car when we travel to Atlanta in two weeks. She seems to take to it well as long as she's not left in it in the car.
5. Chicken fried steak. What a tasty dish with fresh ripe tomatoes and mashed potatoes and gravy.
6. Mass and communion with parish family and the community shared after.
7. A baby afghan, nearly complete!

Rare Picture!
Sent to me today, I just had to share with one and all! Absolutely incredible!!! Another reason to Praise God!
EDITORIAL COMMENT: This article and picture was the subject of a Snope search. All of the above did, indeed, happen except apparently the fetus reaching for and grasping the surgeon's hand. Of course the mother had probably had a spinal or general anesthesia and that, too, would have affected the "baby." I see that this really makes no difference, for if this is all true and the baby was carried to term, delivered and was healthy, in December of 1999, then Samuel will be 10 years old this year. I say again, thanks be to God! Incredible!!!! Cathy
A picture began circulating in November. It should be 'The Picture of the Year,' or perhaps, 'Picture of the Decade.' It won't be. In fact, unless you obtained a copy of the US paper which published it, you probably would never have seen it.
The picture is that of a 21-week-old unborn baby named Samuel Alexander Armas, who is being operated on by surgeon named Joseph Bruner.
The baby was diagnosed with spina bifida and would not survive if removed from his mother's womb. Little Samuel's mother, Julie Armas, is an obstetrics nurse in Atlanta. She knew of Dr. Bruner's remarkable surgical procedure. Practicing at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, he performs these special operations while the baby is still in the womb.
During the procedure, the doctor removes the uterus via C-section and makes a small incision to operate on the baby. As Dr.Bruner completed the surgery on Samuel, the little guy reached his tiny, but fully developed hand through the incision n and firmly grasped the surgeon's finger... Dr. Bruner was reported as saying that when his finger was grasped, it was the most emotional moment of his life, and that for an instant during the procedure he was just frozen, totally immobile.
The photograph captures this amazing event with perfect clarity... The editors titled the picture, 'Hand of Hope.' The text explaining the picture begins, 'The tiny hand of 21-week- old fetus Samuel Alexander Armas emerges from the mother's uterus to grasp the finger of Dr. Joseph Bruner as if thanking the doctor for the gift of life.
Little Samuel's mother said they “wept for days” when they saw the picture. She said, “The photo reminds us pregnancy isn't about disability or an illness, it's about a little person.” Samuel was born in perfect health, the operation 100 percent successful...
Now see the actual picture, and it is awesome...incredible....and hey, pass it on. The world needs to see this one!
Don't tell me our God isn't an awesome God!!!!!

It was our intention to go to Ainsley and Lindsey's soccer games this weekend, but as luck would have it the fields were too muddy from the recent rains so we didn't get to see them play. We did get a fashion show. We got see Eric and Marianne's adventure in remodeling in preparation for the arrival of wee one. Will be a very nice place to rest and relax. God truly is GOOD!

Simple Devotion
As she often does Suzy at Sailing by Starlight has guided me to a new and interesting site called The Simple Woman. There I have been challenged to THINK and REFLECT on scripture. I share this as part of her reflection.
Relish in the moment, the here and now. We know that times are hard and they will be...the end is written and the world is in travail, but we also know that we are never alone. Take comfort in this...
Philippians 4:8 (which is the "blueprint” verse for my life) it says “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” I just love this scripture and find the words very simple to understand. I find them healing to a burdened spirit that is hurting.
And you know I can. She reminded me that when things are burdensome I find myself singing or humming one of my favorite hymns, You Are Near. It becomes a prayer and then I appreciate the consolation derived from the nearness of God. What a grand opportunity to say Thank You and give praise to the Almighty.
I would ask you to visit The Simple Woman for she has a great deal to offer. Thank you to Suzy for leading me there.

Hope in My Garden
"And the rain, rain, rain came down, down, down in rushing, rising rivlets..." and I had such "Highee hopes...highee hopes, high apple piie in the skyeee hopes..." but it looks like we won't be working in the muddy garden today!!! It is in such need of "repair." It needs some serious grooming and a definite face lift. But unless we wear hip waders it's just possible that it won't get done this weekend. DRAT!
So as we all do, I thought if it clears up enough (sour grapes), then Ron can take the telescope out and look at God's "garden in the sky" tonight. Saturn last weekend was really beautiful...He still waiting for Jupiter to make "his" appearance.
Well, it occurred to me this morning when at Mass that the garden I should be worrying about is not the one with the weeds in the soil outside, but the weeds to be pulled and the seeds to be planted in the garden of my soul, The Real Garden. Goodness! What a revelation. For how my soul looks with its weeds and flowers is also how I appear to others who witness my works. So it is that I will try to work harder on the soul within, as well, as the soil without. The one may need hip waders, the the other certainly does not!
