One day two weeks ago, I was doing laundry when I went to put my first load into the dryer. What did I find in the dryer but inspecting it. He was serious. He was being diligent. He seemed to be enjoying it. That was the first time, in the ten years that he and his sister came to live with us, that I have found him in the dryer. Well, before I put the clothers in the dryer, I wiped it out and then put the laundry into it to dry. He has not been in the dryer since. I guess it passed inspecion.
There is a garden in every childhood, an enchanted place where colors are brighter, the air softer, and the morning more fragrant than ever again~~Elizabeth Lawrence~~

Brought this out of the closet, dusted it off and thought we'd play today. I remember as a child, when it was too hot or too cold to play outside we would gather at a friends house and work on a jigsaw puzzle. Ours was always in the basement on a card table and when it was finished there was always another to begin. We'd also exchange and share puzzles. So today sit down at my card table and lets just relax and PLAY!

This is such a wonderful summer. We have done so much traveling and revisiting places dear to our hearts.
When I first met Ron he was a student at Colorado School of Mines. He was studying metallurgy and minoring in "gold panning." Often dates were spent up on Clear Creek panning. In the Spring when the thaw began you could be sure that he would be up their early in the morning until late at night. He should have been a "49er" but he was born too late.
After we married, Ron would take my brothers and their friends up on the river to work the tailings. Tom, Phil, and friends have probably got tales of their own to tell, but not today.
It had been probably 20 years since he'd been up on river, but this summer we decided we would do it again. Here are the pictures of this adventure.
The boulders that need to be moved to get the dirt to pan.
Tools of the trade. (Only a small part as we didn't bring the sluice.)
Panning it down.
Checking the results.
And the earth gave up ONE flake of gold.
But when all is said and done it wasn't all for the gold. It was for the thrill of being on the river again and playing in the dirt. There of memories of the past and the one newly made. And Clear Creek still flows on.

Kelly at Musings is offering us a chance to share moments in our lives when children cause us to pause and reflect on the impact their lives have had on us. So from time to time I will be going into my picture archives and bringing out those pictures that have caused me joy, laughter and love, proof of life. I will even endeavor to leave only a short title for the picture! So go visit Kelly and share in the fun!
It's Mosaic Monday again! Only just got the new camera yesterday. Only doing some clicking, nothing artistic (Me? Artistic? NOT!) Just having fun with this Canon PowerShot.! I had fun with Duchess. She seems to love having her picture taken. New because she used to look away from the camera not too long ago! At any rate enjoy today!!! Another treasure offered and accepted.
Please visit Mary and The Little Red House. Her pictures are grand and so are the pictures of others!
I always have fun with this. This year I'll not be able to read all the entries until much after this day. For as you are reading this I am preparing for the rehearsal dinner for Jimmy and Kelly. The wedding is the twelfth. So you all have a grand time and I'll catch up next week.
I have two entries. Probably as a result of the dinner preparations. So here goes.
Love to bake cookies The bread and pumpkin pies Oh, what an aroma!

The holiday's here Boxes are everywhere Now who will wrap them?
I do love to wrap Christmas gifts. But I like to take my time. This year I am under the wire. Next weekend is wedding day for Jimmy and Kelly and 2/5 of the family's gifts have to be wrapped so we can deliver them at that time. Whew! I had better get started!!! This weekend is now designated as "Wrapping Weekend!"
Do you ever wonder if any of those words that are used for word verification are real? Well on occasion I have looked them up in the dictionary or tried to get away with one as a word while playing scrabble only to find it didn't exist and I couldn't fool anyone else by using it. I find that they just do not exist...I cant remember in the last 2 1/2 years getting a REAL word!
Well, much to my delight, this morning when I was commenting at Bernie's House I actually had a word I knew! Yes, indeed!
It put a smile on my face and will be reminded, when I have to spell a word verification 3 times to post my comment, that once upon a time I got a REAL WORD!!!

This is pretty neat. DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST! It takes less than a minute . Work this out as you read Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out! This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun.
1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to have chocolate (more than once but less than 10)
2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold)
3. Add 5
4. Multiply it by 50 -- I'll wait while you get the calculator
5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1759... If you haven't, add 1758
6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.
You should have a three digit number
The first digit of this was your original number (i.e., how many times you want to have chocolate each week).
The next two numbers are
YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it is!!!!!)
THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2009) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD ITAROUND WHILE ITLASTS.

deny the beautiful choco-pics?
